It's been an amazing resource while I've been hunting for my first vintage machine.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, I've been looking at getting a 301, 401, or 500.  I recently found a 301 in my price range on eBay, but there's some reddish discoloration on the paint, mostly by the thread take-up.  I was wondering if this is likely to be something "serious", an indication that the paint is iffy, or something else entirely.  If you have any ideas what this is, I'd greatly appreciate your input.
