DONE- Singer Featherweight 221- UPDATE in RED
Long overdue UPDATE/10/2010:
This poor gal just kept on getting pushed to the back of the burner so to speak. FINALLY, it's done. It will look swell under somebody's Christmas tree....but I will never do this again....far too much work. But, I can check this off of my bucket list. The next machine with finish issues will be a parts/donor machine.
=====================================================================================
Here is a quick shot of the "cherry red" featherweight with it's first coat of paint. I'll try and post a few more shots of it's progress along the way. (this is not the same machine as the black on below- different machines)

I love the RED ! I am doing a model 66 in pearlescent white. My question to you is... "What is the trick to removing and installing the brass badge." I'm not sure how to go about it without damage. Thank you for posting such a usefull site. Best to you and your family.

We removed the brass rivets and will replace them with new ones. My FIL is a tinner, and he gave me an assortment of such doo-dads, so I can't tell you were to buy them without having to research it myself.
Beautiful!! What are you going to sell them for?? Do you take layaway...lol
marky
I'll probably jsut list them on eBay and let the open market determine the final selling price. I'm thinking that I will start each of them at $9.99 with no reserve.

No layaway, but I do accept all major credit cards through paypal
Absolutely love the red! It's perfect for this little machine that would be lost forever were it not for your work! I agree that if a machine has a good original finish, I'd leave it as is, but this is a fun machine in a gorgeous color.
I love checking out your website. I just became the proud owner of a Singer Featherweight 221J in beige. I also own a Singer 15 in mint green (apparently called a Margarita?), a Futura 920 and a Singer Genie. I hope to add a Rocketter soon!
