Let There Be Light - For My Singer 201 Treadle...Please

I do have both a daylight table and floor lamp that I can pull up next to the treadle when sewing.  I could even wire-up a light fixture to attach right to the machine, but I wanted an option that wasn't dependent on household current.Photobucket

So, a few days ago, I started to keep my eye out for an LED light that could be easily attached and removed from the machine.  VoilĂ !   I found this LED "cap" light.  It's supposed to clip on to the brim of a baseball cap, but with a rubber band around the face plate of my 201 for it to clip onto, it works great to light up the area around the presser foot.

Since it's a LED it should use less battery power, and I could even use it on other machines as an auxiliary light.  It looks weird, but it works!

WOW!!!! I am so excited about your light. I can't wait to find one. I love your rubberband idea but was wondering about gluing a magnet to the back of the light so I can take it from machine to machine.

Jeanne-  What a BRILLIANT idea!  I already found an extra magnet and glue it to the back of the light- works great!

I have also used a book light with a clamp that I clamp to the pressure control knob of my Singer 99 hand crank. The goose neck allows adjusting the light to just where I need it most. It's also portable to take to my other hand cranks.

It would be interesting to attach a crank to the treadle assembly to power a light--although you might be without light if you sewed too intermittently.
